Nelson Mandela: Au Nom de la Liberté plot
Documentary charting the life of Nelson Mandela. In 1942 Mandela became a member of the youth branch of the African National Congress (ANC). Mandela fights for a South Africa without apartheid. In 1962, as one of the ANC leaders, he was accused of sabotage and plotting against the government. He gets a life sentence, which he mainly serves on Robben Island. Mandela thus becomes a symbol for the worldwide anti-apartheid movement. Mandela was released on February 11, 1990 after 27 years in captivity. He is negotiating with the government on the future of a South Africa without apartheid, and a temporary government will be set up to implement reforms. In 1993, Mandela and President De Klerk received the Nobel Peace Prize. In February 1994, Mandela was elected president of the national unity government after free non-racial elections. In the transition from the apartheid regime in South Africa to a democratic government, he managed to prevent a race war, and both during and after his presidency he was a source of inspiration to many.
