My Life My Lesson plot

As a young girl, the apparently calm but troubled teenager Felicia had to experience her stepfather systematically beating her mother. Both parents struggled with addiction problems. After being removed from home for several years, Felicia returns to the family. Her mother no longer drinks and lives with her three other children and a lap dog in a small, overcrowded apartment. Felicia makes her way through the chaotic household, while her stepfather tries to reconnect after years of absence.
