My Father and My Mother plot
For thirty years, the well-known Chinese photographer Jiao Bo took more than ten thousand photos of his parents. This film is composed of a selection of those photos and many hours of video that were made from the 1980s when Jiao Bo visited his parental home from his hometown of Beijing. The images paint an unpolished and loving portrait of the daily life of a simple Chinese family in a remote mountain village. The aging couple works in the fields, takes care of the photographer's disabled older brother, constantly bickering but also clearly very attached to each other...
