Must Read after My Death plot
Allis and her husband Charley lived with their four children in Hartford, Connecticut. Charley's work took him all the way to Australia for four months a year. They decided to buy a dictaphone, intended to keep in touch with each other. Allis struggled with her existence as a wife and mother and experienced the recordings with the dictaphone as liberating. From that moment on, the dictaphone started to play an important role for her, while the family fell deeper and deeper into misery. The sad texts that Allis recorded are in stark contrast to the many videos of the family that exist and give an image of a harmonious family. All her recordings only surfaced after her death in 2001.
