In the first half of the twentieth century, Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany made a monstrous alliance. As long as they could fight their common struggle on the diplomatic front, the two nations managed to reconcile their completely different cultures and mentalities. But once the war really broke out, the balance of power quickly became apparent. The illusion of unity was shattered and the masks fell off. The documentary highlights the relationship between the two countries between 1922 and 1945 through the relationship between their leaders. Mussolini continued to believe that he was Hitler's equivalent, but the reality was very different...
