"Does art matter in a city on the verge of extinction?"

The city of Detroit grew in the 20th century into the richest city in America thanks to the car industry. However, after decades of economic decline, Detroit is on the brink of bankruptcy in 2013. At that point, voices were raised to sell the city's pride: the prestigious art collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts. The question arises how important art is still when poverty is lurking.
