Missing Scenes plot
Sabine Groenewegen is working on the Missing Scenes Chronicles, a new work that stems from the discovery of missing scenes from a pre-war Dutch film set on a rubber plantation in Sumatra. Her search for answers as to why all scenes featuring a specific female character were cut from the original film raises broader questions about omission, maternal heritage, and how we are connected through ancestors. Forensic investigation, poetry, and speculation intertwine in a series of works that span moving image, installation, and performance to share an exploration of what things cross us as time passes.
