Mijn Kinderen Leven Nog plot
Documentary maker Eveline van Dijck meets Khadra, who has fled her country of Somalia, shortly after her arrival at trauma clinic De Vonk. Her husband and two eldest children were brutally murdered. Her three youngest children are untraceable. This is how Khadra arrives in the Netherlands in 1999: destitute and in shock. The memories of the murder of her loved ones are almost unbearable. But even more painful is the flaming uncertainty about her three children that she has not been able to find again. She doesn't know if they're dead or alive. The children, in turn, are insecure about their mother. And then something happens that no one dared hope for. Khadra finds her children again! After a year of indescribable bureaucratic red tape in which Khadra has to prove that they are really her children, they embrace each other at Schiphol. They rediscover their lives in the Frisian town of Drachten. Where nothing reminds of the past, which - as it turns out - is not yet over.
