Midnight Return: The Story of Billy Hayes and Turkey plot

After his ingenious escape from a Turkish prison in 1975, Billy Hayes arrived a hero and became instantly famous. Within a week, a writer and a filmmaker reached a deal for his story. In 1978, the Cannes Film Festival was shocked by Alan Parker's “Midnight Express” that went down in film history as an artistic and financial success. Subsequently, Billy Hayes became an indelible part of pop culture. But the infamous film had a lasting impact on Turks who judge the film as racist. Despite warnings from family and friends, Billy returns to Turkey.
