Mein Wunderbares West-Berlin plot
In West Berlin in 1960 it was possible to find gay bars so that men were not left to their own devices. The protagonists of this film, all members of the commune still active today, remember those early years in the city. They are memories of a community that fought for its existence, and of its transformation, until the fall of the Wall. Faced with the great social oppression of the 1970s, a collective homosexual identity emerged, and the 'West Berlin homosexual campaign' called for the abolition of paragraph 175 and the overthrow of the patriarchy. Destroyed buildings became the sites for new ways of living together, such as male-only communities or the queer house.
