Mayday! May Day! Mayday! plot

At the beginning of 2017, mining company Freeport Indonesia laid off thousands of employees who worked at the Grasberg mine, in the Indonesian province of Papua. The miners take to the streets on May 1 of that year to demonstrate. This is the beginning of one of the longest strikes of the 21st century, which continues to this day. Although the company was nationalized in 2018, it still does not acknowledge the strike. As a result, the workers have no access to health care and 97 people have already died.
