While the sounds of the 'Summer of Love' were enjoyed in the West Coast of the US in the late 1960s, a much rawer sound emerged in Detroit. The Grande Ballroom was at the epicenter of Detroit's musical scene and was a launching point for bands like MC5, Iggy & the Stooges, The Amboy Dukes and more. The Grande inspired not only musicians from Detroit, but also musicians from the rest of the US and the UK. This is the story of the halls where it all began, told by those who lived it.
