Looking for Reconciliation, a Burmese Odyssey plot
The young, inexperienced reporter Z. goes in search of reconciliation in Burma (Myanmar). The military junta has promised elections for 2010, but it is now clear that the generals have no intention of returning power to the people. For a report by the opposition channel Democratic Voice of Burma, reporter Z. therefore looks for examples of democratization and reconciliation in other countries. Armed with a small camera and rickety tripod, he travels to Indonesia, the Czech Republic, South Africa, Iraq and Cambodia. These countries have suffered for years under a dictatorship, but now have a democratically elected government. How did the countries become democratic? What happened to the former rulers? And how did the reconciliation process go?
