1965. Wendell Berry returns home to Henry County, where he bought a small ranch and began a life of farming, writing, and teaching. Half a century later, Henry County is waging an ideological battle in silence. Spanning one generation, the agricultural virtues of simplicity, landscape management, sustainable agriculture, the local economy and deeply ingrained customs have replaced a capital-intensive model of industrial agriculture. Wendell Berry has followed this struggle and in his way became the voice for the preservation of agricultural life.
