Everyone has a favourite song that is connected to a special story or feeling. In Songs from North, residents of Amsterdam-Noord talk about the music that moves them every time. For British Steven, it is a song by Sigur Ros that helped him find the confidence for fatherhood. Egyptian Abier lets us hear a song by Fayrouz that takes her back to the country she left behind to get married in the Netherlands. The film paints a portrait of the rapidly changing district by letting the residents tell their stories.
