Les Rendez-Vous de l'Été plot
If there is one subject that has disappeared from cinema, it is sports. Television increasingly took over; live broadcasts became the sights and sounds that mattered, although today they often seem clumsy imitations of the hugely popular aesthetic that turned athletes into actors and teams into theater companies. Television made sport ephemeral, while cinema gave it eternal value and taught us something about space and grace. This documentary is an anthropological tribute to athletics as a shining example of human magnificence – society at its best and most radiant.
