Salvador Dalí was one of the most important artists of Surrealism and one of the most prominent figures in 20th century art. He was one of the most controversial and popular artists. Influenced by Impressionism at a very young age, he left his hometown of Figueras to go to Madrid. In 1929 he officially joined the Surrealist group in Paris. The artist drew from his psychoses and painted his deepest obsessions.
