Lenins Erf plot

Despite the worldwide fall of communism, the supporters of Lenin and Marx still remain in power in East Groningen. The documentary "Lenins Erf" portrays two men from the municipality of Beerta. After the dissolution of the CPN, they continued their struggle in the NCPN. Now elderly, Albert Schwertman and Koert Stek still fight like Don Quixote and Sancho Panchez for the welfare of the less fortunate. A struggle that, it turns out, has its roots in their past when peasants were exploited and their communist fathers imprisoned or murdered. In the film, the men talk about past and present and also comment on their wives, children and fellow villagers. Director Simone van de Broek is the daughter of a trade unionist herself and grew up among the stencil machines.
