In Rajasthan, girls are killed at birth because marriage costs too much. Eleven-year-old Saroj is one of the few who escaped death, unlike her two sisters. Sunita, 25, from Delhi, has left her husband who beat her for a year. Suzanne (38) from Calcutta was raped, but goes to extremes in the process. And 84-year-old Gulab Bai is one of the many widows left on the streets of the pilgrimage town of Vrindavan, banned from society.
