Le Maryaj Lenglensou plot
Several years ago, during one of Haiti's many political crises, director and cinematographer Hans Fels discovered the outlines of the first Creole and never performed opera, written by Rassoul Labuchin and composed by Ipharès Blain. This opera Le Maryaj Lenglensou or The Blood Wedding lay in a drawer for years. There was no money to run the opera. The filmmaker follows the development of the opera, from the first difficult steps to the tour across the island. Hans Fels does not use interviews in his film, but connects the story of the libretto with the harsh reality of the country. The documentary shows that people cannot live well without art, if only to forget the banality of everyday life.
