In 1979, Jaime Roldós Aguilera became Ecuador's first democratically elected president. On May 24, 1981, he and his wife Martha were killed in a plane crash. Was the crash an accident or a deliberate attack on a young leader who quickly made many enemies in high places? If so, who were these figures?
