La Famille Stein - La Fabrique de l'Art Moderne plot
Gertrude, Leo, and Michael Stein: Americans in Paris at the Turn of the Twentieth Century. They were the first to buy works by Matisse, Picasso and Juan Gris, thereby contributing to the later fame of these artists, not only in Europe but also in America. The documentary follows the story of the origin of the Stein family's art collection and thus the story of the family itself. Cecile Debray of the Center Pompidou in Paris and art historian Robert Parker, who works for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, have their say. They highlight the way in which the fate of the Stein family is intertwined with the history of French and American art.
