Kamchatka - The Cure for Hatred plot
Former television reporter Viyacheslav Nemyshev made many trips to Chechnya in 2001 for Russian television to cover the war. Now, thirteen years later, his life looks very different. He lives on a remote island in the far east of Russia, far away from Moscow and the memories of the war. There he tries to build a new life. He films life on the island; we see, among other things, his beautiful shots of spawning salmon and fishermen at work. The fragments from his daily life with his girlfriend and baby are interspersed with flashes from his earlier reports.
