Kaise Jeebo Re! plot
In the fifty years of its independence, the Indian government has expelled countless people from their land in favor of a dam, a mine or a factory. New plans are constantly being discussed and other villages are swept away. The Sardar Sarovar Dam is central to this documentary. At the completion of the Bargi Dam, 700 meters above Sardar Sarovar, 162 villages in Madhya Pradesh were flooded. In all, a million people lost the land they had inhabited and farmed for centuries. The Indian government sees this organized destruction of ancient tribal cultures and ecosystems as a small cost to progress.
