Justice for Sergei plot
Portrait of Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, who paid a high price for exposing corruption in Russia. He died in November 2009 under dubious circumstances in a detention center in Moscow, while awaiting trial. His death caused outrage internationally, but in Russia it remains silent. The Wall Street Journal describes Magnitsky's death as a "slow murder." The Moscow Public Oversight Committee calls it "a murder to cover up fraud." Under public pressure, President Dmitry Medvedev opens an investigation, but a year later no one has been held responsible for the murder. In Justice for Sergei, Magnitsky's family, friends and former colleagues tell for the first time on camera about the man who fought for justice from childhood, even during his wrongful incarceration. And how this man dared to take on the all-destroying corruption in his country, which proved fatal to him.
