If this had been the plot for Rocky 6...we would have found it completely unbelievable...but hey, reality is often a bit more bizarre than 20 scriptwriters can come up with.

It all starts with Junior Bouwens, a young successful lightweight boxer who comes from a family with 7 children, 4 of whom have autism. It starts sadly, but beautifully, because he goes for a better life for this family. Of course, the money-smelling sharks also appear on the scene.

And then that horrible twist! It's a tough world anyway, that boxing world (personally I wouldn't be against a ban at all, but admittedly it remains a fascinating sport).

A powerful documentary.

Actually a rather poignant portrait of the boxer JP Junior Bauwens where I was already quite indignant at the time how the media and the vultures hovered around this vulnerable family. At the time it was really a hype in Flanders, partly because Junior performed and unfortunately his private situation was smeared.

The documentary is purely observational. There are no interviews and no voice-over. The love for his family is very strong. Happy to hear that he currently runs a successful low-threshold boxing club in Ghent with his girlfriend.

An interesting documentary, but also one with a sour aftertaste.
