Job en de Hollandse Vrijstaat plot

At the end of the eighties, Rosemarie Blank shot in the no-man's-land of abandoned factories in East Amsterdam for her film Transit Levantkade. In 2009 she compiled the film Job and the Dutch Free State from the material shot at the time, a collection of memories of the colorful group of artists who lived and worked in the Conradstraat. The film gives a special picture of life in this squatters stronghold in the eighties, with the self-built shelters in the large halls, the delivery bicycles and old cars, the fires and the dogs. One of the inhabitants is the strange man Job. After the evacuation of the buildings, he survived under the most dire conditions. He lived apparently without a sense of time and space, but he seemed to see something in stones and wood chips that others did not.
