Jimi Hendrix was an American guitar hero of the 1960s who broadened and radicalized electric guitar playing. The documentary is about his performance as a headliner at the Atlanta Pop Festival on July 4, 1970, two months before his death on September 18 that year. The film combines color and 16mm footage from Hendrix's concert in the original performance sequence. Features interviews with Hendrix' bassist Billy Cox, Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer, concert promoter Larry Vaughan, colleagues Paul McCartney, Kirk Hammit of Metallica, Steve Winwood and many others.
