The photographer and cinematographer Jan Schaper (The Hague, 1921), who has now lived in Schiedam for some time, was one of the most intriguing personalities in Rotterdam's cultural life in the 1950s and 1960s. However, the fame of the 'schaper phenomenon' has so far been limited to a small circle. The time has come for Schaper to be brought to the attention of a wider audience.
