James Ellroy's Feast of Death plot

Novelist James Ellroy, best known for the film adaptation of his book LA Confidential, speaks with an overwhelming barrage of words, like bullets of sex and violence, inspired by the unsolved murder of his young mother. He reads excerpts from his work, and addresses fans in a bookstore in the same hilarious and crude style. He drives around Los Angeles at night, in ghostly blue light, and has a dinner meeting with a befriended group of cops. There, the camera focuses on the faces of the men who, in addition to compassion for the victims and a black sense of humor, share an obsession with unsolved murder cases. There also takes place the exciting unraveling of a murder from 1947, about which Ellroy wrote a book, with - sometimes gruesome - photos from the police archives.
