Between the fall of Rome and the European voyages of discovery, few events have been as significant as the rise of Islam. In just a few centuries, the Muslims managed to extend their power as far as Spain in the west and India in the east. This documentary examines the thousand years after the origin of religion in three parts. The first part deals with the life of the Prophet Muhammad; the second part examines the high civilization in which the Islamic areas lived at the time of the European Crusades; in the third part, the Ottomans with their Suleiman the Magnificent are discussed.
