Invisible - Illegal in Europa plot
Millions of people live illegally in Europe. Forced by circumstances, they lead an invisible life from the outside. German documentary filmmaker Andreas Voigt decided to follow five of these people for a year. Five stories of illegal immigrants, from different parts of the world, who live in five European countries. Zakari, a former army officer, fled from Algeria, where his life was in danger. He has lived illegally in Germany for the past 10 years - his story was 'not serious enough' for a residence permit - and he continues to hope that he can one day return to a safe and democratic Algeria. Edita from Ecuador does not even think about returning to her homeland. The transsexual feels at home in Paris, where she receives a new temporary visa every three months. Malika, a Chechen, just wants a better future for her daughter. And Prince awaits his mandatory return to Nigeria in a Dutch cell. Finally, Oumar has just set foot on European land - he reached the Spanish coast via Ceuta - when his dreams collapse. The border police are waiting for him. Without commentary or political analysis, the documentary paints five portraits of people who continue to hope for happiness, but who have to submit to their heartbreaking fate.
