Inundation District plot
At a time of rising seas and increasingly powerful storms, one of the world's wealthiest, most educated cities made a fateful decision to spend billions of dollars building a new district along its sea-level coastline. Unlike other places threatened by climate change, this neighborhood of glass towers, home to some of the world's largest companies, was built well after scientists began warning of the threats. The city, which already experiences more high-tide flooding than almost any other city in the United States, named its new neighborhood the Innovation District. But now, as the seas rise uncontrollably and at an accelerating pace, others are now calling the neighborhood something else: Inundation District.
