In un Altro Paese plot
This documentary focuses on the investigating judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino and their fight against the Cosa Nostra. In the 1960s, after a bloody mafia war, the government set up an 'anti-mafia pool', a collective of magistrates and investigating judges. The pool was briefly disbanded, but was re-established in the late 1970s after several high-ranking members of society were murdered. Under the leadership of investigating judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, the anti-mafia pool achieved great success. Falcone and Borsellino quickly became the leaders in the fight against the mafia. Through their efforts, the mafia was recognized as an organized criminal organization. Also, through Falcone and Borsellino, mafia bosses could from now on be convicted for murders they had not committed with their own hands.
