Images d'Orient: Tourisme Vandale plot

Using only authentic material, directors Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucchi portray the first tourist trips of the wealthy European elite to exotic countries, in this case especially India. The title of the film also points forward to the massive and vandalistic mass tourism of today. The film shows enormous contrasts: people who can hardly dress, have almost nothing to eat and can barely live against those who dress according to the latest fashion, eat porcelain and stay in grand colonial residences.
