Il Pozzo: Voci d'Acqua dall'Etiopia plot

Access to drinking water is not self-evident and in some places that may never change. Centuries ago, the Ethiopian Borana people dug a few wells that are the only source for humans and herds in times of drought. These wells are managed according to a well-arranged system and occupy a special place within the community. The film shows unforgettable images of the singing wells. The water is sung from here and raised according to a manual 'terrace system' to ease the work. Then it is distributed in a hierarchical manner. This old-fashioned way is preferred by the population to a motorized system.
