Ik Wil Mijn Geld Terug plot
The Dutch filmmaker Leo de Boer could not resist the temptation: he invested a lot of money in shares. And lost. Even worse, the money actually belonged to his son Michael. Now Leo wants that money back. But should he continue investing or not? In this introspective film he goes in search of the backgrounds of the temptation of gambling. And why do other people manage to get rich this way and not him? In conversations with economic experts and professional investors, Leo tries to unravel the secret of good investing and wonders what the difference is between his actions and that of the banks that caused the financial crisis. He also visits fellow sufferers who lost thousands and sometimes millions of euros through pyramid schemes or other forms of speculation. This tragicomic quest shows how people deal with financial loss and what money or greed means in our lives. The developments in the credit crisis meant that many people no longer trust the current financial system and people like Leo are left disappointed. Meanwhile, Michael wants to buy a scooter. Can his father confess that half of Michael's wealth has evaporated?
