In the 1990s, the militant environmental group Earth Liberation Front (ELF) came under the attention of the FBI through a series of sensational arson attacks. A blood-curdling cat and mouse game ensued between the police and the activists, which ended in 2005 with a number of convictions. Daniel McGowan, son of a police officer and a brilliant student, was one of them. This documentary, a mix of coming of age and thriller, shows how an ordinary citizen's son ended up in radical eco-terrorism and asks hard questions about environmental care, activism and the concept of terrorism.
