Ich. Immendorff plot
One of the most important German artists, Jörg Immendorff, lived and worked for nine years with the knowledge that he suffers from the incurable disease ALS. Director Nicola Graef visited him in his studio and shows how, despite his slowly deteriorating muscles, he continued to create new works of art and taught at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. How did the limited mobility and the inevitability of this situation change his life and his art? The documentary accompanies Immendorff for the two years until his death in May 2007 during the preparation of the exhibition for the major retrospective at the Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Friends and fellow artists share their experiences and stories, as do his mother Irene and Oda Jaune, his young wife and former student.
