I, Poppy plot

In rural India, old Vardibai tends her poppy field with care, for the harvest must provide a much-needed income. As is often the case, there is uncertainty until the last moment as to whether she will receive the harvesting permit. Those permits are in the hands of corrupt officials who bend the system to their will. Her son Mangalil takes on the corruption, at the risk that his activism makes everything even more difficult.
