Hugo Koblet - Pédaleur de Charme plot

A baker's son wins the Tour of Italy. In 1950 this is done to everyone's surprise by the Swiss Hugo Koblet, whose popularity is rising like a comet and with it a victory in one of the three great cycling rounds to his name. He is known among his competitors for his elegant driving style, but also among the ladies he impresses with his handsome look and his charming attitude. A year later, Koblet manages to achieve his greatest triumph by winning the Tour de France. Shortly afterwards, however, it is announced that this most likely happened with the help of doping. For the rounds, his career is ruined, but in classics and six-days, Koblet is still welcome. When he marries the model Sonja Bühl, he ends up in high society. A few years later, when his hard-earned money is gone, Sonja demands a divorce. One day, Koblet crashes into a tree with a sports car at high speed and dies. Was it an accident or suicide?
