When his daughter Ella turned two years old, director Jay Rosenblatt started an annual ritual. While filming, he asked her a number of questions. What do you want to do when you grow up? What are your dreams? What is Power? What are you most afraid of? Leaning against the same pillow, Ella gives new and surprising answers year after year. She is afraid to be different. Calls power the power to do good. Wants to be smart. Ella is growing up under our eyes. She learns sign language, becomes vegan. The leaps she makes as a human being are amazing to see, even if everyone experiences them. 17 years in a row, filmmaker Jay Rosenblatt interviews his daughter on her birthday in this portrait of parental love and acceptance.
