How Big Is the Galaxy? plot
The Zharkov family, consisting of father, mother and two sons, belong to the Dolgans, one of the last indigenous peoples to lead a nomadic existence in the remote extreme north of Siberia. Previously it was common for children to go to boarding school, where they were alienated from their family and culture, but today families can take in a teacher sent by the Russian authorities so that the children can learn at home. The film focuses on seven-year-old Zakhar and his older brother Prokopy. Zakhar starts in the first grade, led by the young but serious teacher Nelly.
