Hibaku no Mori plot
The Fukushima nuclear disaster in March 2011 turned the surrounding villages into a desolate country. Wild animals thrive without human presence. Houses are overthrown by sprawl and black rats gnaw through the wooden pillars. The country is also inhabited by predators such as civets, macaques and wild boars. A project is now underway to survey the abandoned areas by attaching a GPS device, dosimeter and camera to the wild boars and recording the conditions of the once Arcadian farming hills. This documentary also explores the first-ever research into the effects of radiation on primate species.
