"The only time they stopped running was to remember"
In the mid-1980s, coach Paul Westhead was no longer in demand in the NBA. The best offer he could get came from an unknown, small college that didn't stand out in basketball. In the same city where he won an NBA championship with Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Westhead was determined to perfect his non-stop run-and-shoot offensive system. With the two talented players Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble, Westhead scored big next. This ended when Gathers collapsed during a game from an abnormal heartbeat and later died tragically on the field. Through his collaborations with Westhead and Kimble, director Bill Couturié tells a fast-paced and emotional story of innovation, triumph and tragedy.
