Go Clara Go: Die Kunst des Kreativen Widerstands plot

How can art shift the visible – despite state control and political restrictions? In the GDR in the 1970s, several artists declared the officially socialist-leaning Chemnitz, then still Karl-Marx-Stadt, a platform for artistic freedom and experimentation. With silent performances, communal plein-airs by the sea, vibrant artist parties, and collectively created etchings, the artist group Clara Mosch set new standards. In close collaboration with the cooperatively run Galerie Oben, spaces emerged where art, despite repression, found new forms of expression – beyond ideological precepts.
