Fyre plot

"The Greatest Party That Never Happened"

The Fyre Festival was billed as a lavish music event with many social media stars. The reality, however, was very different. This is evident from this documentary, which takes a look behind the scenes of the infamous unraveling of this music festival. It was promoted with bikini supermodels and there would be superior music performances and chic amenities. Guests came there to discover the reality, but it was far from what was promised.

Entertaining shit show. There are few things more satisfying than seeing a bunch of rich (and stupid) 'entrepreneurs, influencers and rich kiddos' go all out like that. All because of the idiotic fantasies of the megalomaniac Billy (what a scary head, everyone can see through that, right?) and the devotional Ja-Rule, surrounded by all docile pumpjacks who should bear at least as much guilt. All that lame bullshit like 'he could sell you ANYTHING'... then you just don't have a backbone and don't know much about people. It is striking that Fuckjerry is given such a safe place here, a company that is not averse to controversy and has grown from stealing other people's content.

Nice documentary about a luxurious and exclusive music festival that is held on an island. This documentary looks a bit like gloating. The whole logistical chaos that arises is secretly nice to see. It sometimes remains a bit too much on the surface, goes on a bit too long and it is also a pity that the organizer / scammer himself does not speak.

An entertaining disaster movie. Anyone who has ever had to organize or produce something can watch this with sweat in the buttocks; how could you let something like that go wrong? Main character Billy McFarland - and in a sense also rapper Ja Rule - is portrayed as an annoying figure, he does not speak; we see him smiling mainly on archive material, while he is surrounded by top models on a sunny island. All those involved who do have their say do their best to describe the situation, but also to make it clear that they are not the main culprit. The most memorable of them is probably Andy King, who is willing to go to great lengths to save the day. But it is clear from the start that things cannot be saved. Fyre is an entertaining documentary in which we see that everything that can go wrong actually does go wrong. And that's nice to see.

3.5 stars.
