From Meir, to Meir plot

Curious and driven only by her grandmother's love for the small Egyptian village of Meir, filmmaker Maggie Morgan first ended up there in 2008. While visiting her grandparents' home village, Morgan experiences both the vivid and bleak reality of Meir. She attends several joyful occasions, but also discovers that there are people who want to flee the city and cannot. They see dying as a better option than staying there. For twelve years Morgan spoke to the inhabitants of Meir. During the interviews she discovers the beauty and complexity of the world that her grandmother is completely fascinated by.
