Free Money plot
According to founder Michael Faye, what GiveDirectly does is not an experiment, but when asked what he would call it, it remains silent for a while. In any case, GiveDirectly is one of the fastest growing non-profit organizations in the world. It provides a universal basic income to residents of some of the poorest villages on Earth. One of those villages is Kogutu in Kenya. The documentary follows the start-up and the first years of the project. For twelve years, residents will receive twenty-two dollars each month. Without wishing to pass a final judgment on the initiative, the film exposes the space between the idealism in Manhattan's glass offices and the unruly practice in the Kenyan village.
