Footnote plot
Seen from a window, all cities can appear peaceful. It all depends on the location and the orientation. Like many directors suddenly forced into isolation, Zhengfan Yang filmed the exterior of a Chicago neighborhood from above, trying to find traces of what had once been a world and had now become a series of fragments. The images move slowly through the seasons in this small circuit, and so does the sound, but the source we hear could be anywhere and at any moment: a police scanner recorded during the last year of the Trump administration and the beginning of the pandemic.
